INJECTION AND INHALATION SUPPLIES TO PREVENT SPREAD OF AIDS IN NIAGARA FALLS
Community Health Pharmacy offers injection and inhalation supplies in Niagara Falls. Our pharmacy is part of the StreetWorks needle exchange program that is focussed on providing education, prevention, and quality care to those affected by HIV/AIDS in the Niagara Falls region. The important aspect of the treatment continuum is harm reduction. It aims to empower and respect a person’s right to self-determination.
The program is aimed at eradicating the spread of HIV and AIDS, as well as HEP C, spearheaded by like-minded businesses and organizations like Community Health Pharmacy. Our program is aimed at individuals who are actively into substance abuse and determined to come out of it. We celebrate any positive change in their behaviour. Over the years, StreetWorks has provided supportive services to people living with HIV disease and is now part of the National Needle Exchange Program.
HOW IT WORKS
Injection and drug abuse is a major concern in Canada today. StreetWorks helps drug users to express their needs freely and help contribute in creation of a healthier and safer community. The program also helps people confront substance dependence. Any positive outcome in the behaviour of drug users will be treated as a success. Also, we can help protect the health of drug addicts who have no intention of changing their behaviour for the foreseeable future.
A SHOULDER TO LEAN ON
Individuals can depend on StreetWorks needle exchange program for better access to harm reduction services. Services providers are trained on how to respond to an opiate overdose, and provide support services. The main purpose of the program is to lower the HIV, HCV, STI rates, decrease risky sexual behaviour, to provide client services, case management, and referrals to the community organization while maintaining a harm reduction approach.
